Classic Engineering was started more than twenty-five years ago. Doug Huyser founded the company with the intention of creating an engineering company whose work would endure the test of time. Like the dictionary definition of “classic”, we strive to design projects for our clients the can “be judged over a period of time to be of the highest quality and outstanding of its kind.”
Many of the people on our team today have been with us since the beginning. As a small company, our staff have big, hands-on responsibilities for their projects. We are a welcoming place to start, establish and sustain an engineering career. Classic Engineering has developed enduring relationships over decades with building owners, architects, contractors and the construction community throughout Michigan and the United States.

We are a Diverse Group Passionate about Designing Great Buildings
From the outside, Classic Engineering is a multi-disciplined, professional consulting engineering firm, serving the architectural and construction communities.
On the inside, our diverse team of engineers and designers shares a common passion; we love combining our unique individual backgrounds, experiences and talents to help clients create great buildings.
Nearly half our team are women working in structural, mechanical and electrical engineering, and ACAD and Revit design. (On average the industry standard is less than 15% women.)
Our team blends engineers with more than 30 years of experience with new team members in the early stages of their path to becoming professional engineers. We include singles, parents, empty-nesters, grandparents, and young people starting new families.
Away from work we are campers, cyclists, kayakers, golfers, sailors, bikers and surfers. Diverse in our interests, hobbies, faith, families, and life experiences, our Classic Engineering team is dedicated to functioning as an inclusive environment. We welcome all people to our firm, and clients who share our passion for great buildings.
