Bookkeeper / Administrative Assistant

Classic Engineering is a Grand Rapids, Michigan-based consulting engineering firm established in 1998.

Throughout Michigan, the Midwest and around the country, Classic Engineering’s work on thousands of projects over 25 years can be found “in the bones” of all categories of buildings. Our portfolio of work includes hotels, health care facilities, commercial and residential construction, multi-family, senior and independent-living projects, educational, government and church buildings.

We are currently looking for a Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience with bookkeeping and performing various administrative tasks in an office environment. Strong organizational and communication skills are a must. Position can be part or full time.

Education:

  • Associate's degree or certificate in accounting or business administration - preferred

Technical Skills:

  • Understanding of general accounting principals

  • Microsoft Outlook and Excel experience

  • Experience with Deltek Ajera, Vantagepoint or other accounting and project management software

  • Able to work efficiently and prioritize tasks

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Responsibilities (Part-Time & Full-Time):

  • Accounts Receivable

  • Accounts Payable

  • Account Managment

  • Working with Project Managers to finalize and deliver invoices to clients

  • Answering main office phone

  • Preparation of financial reports for accountant and owner

  • Managing and purchasing office supplies

  • Depositing checks

  • Onboarding new employees

  • Maintaining organized records

Additional Responsibilities (Full-Time):

  • Social media account management

  • Recruiting

  • Marketing

  • Streamlining office procedures

  • Providing document support to Engineers for reports, specifications and proposals

Compensation:

  • Wage will be commensurate with candidate skill and experience.

  • Range $26 - $34 per hour
