Electrical Engineer

Classic Engineering is a Grand Rapids, Michigan-based consulting engineering firm established in 1998.

Throughout Michigan, the Midwest and around the country, Classic Engineering’s work on thousands of projects over 20 years can be found “in the bones” of all categories of buildings. Our portfolio of work includes hotels, health care facilities, commercial and residential construction, multi-family, senior and independent-living projects, educational, government and church buildings.

We are currently looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will hold competent knowledge to oversee all electrical engineering services for projects from start to finish. Attention to detail and excellent communication skills are a must.

Education:

  • Minimum BS in Electrical Engineering

Professional Registration:

  • Professional Engineer in the State of Michigan

  • Willing to become registered in other states

Technical Skills:

  • Must be capable of handling all aspects of electrical engineering related to the building industry including the following:

    • Power Distribution

      • Analysis of Existing Systems

      • Emergency Generator Design

    • Lighting Design & Control

    • Site Lighting & Photometrics

    • Fire Alarm and Security Systems

    • Sound and Telephone Systems

    • LEED Design/Certification (helpful)

  • AutoCad/Revit Experience

Responsibilities:

  • Engineer is responsible for all electrical engineering services on projects from start to finish.

  • Preparation and review of electrical construction documents.

  • Develop and edit project specifications as required.

  • Review product shop drawings/submittals related to the electrical design.

  • Review and respond to requests for information (RFIs).

  • Visit project construction sites to review progress.

  • Must be capable of managing and leading support staff such as drafting and electrical designers.

  • Ability to communicate with clients, project owners and contractors in a professional manner is a must.

  • Will be required to establish budgets, develop engineering service proposals and maintain/develop client relationships.

Compensation:

  • Salary will be commensurate with candidate experience.

  • Range $85,000 - $110,000 per year.
